About The Cleghorns

The family ministry was begun in 1967 by Judy’s father, Jim Burch. The group traveled as The Laymen until November 2001, when Mr. Burch retired from the road and the name was changed to The Cleghorns. Since that time, Judy and her sons have seen God’s blessings poured out over and over again. Now, the family is seeing the fourth generation of singers on stage as Jim’s children Parker and Anna along with Jeff’s daughter C.J. join the family on their programs.

The Cleghorns enjoy singing as often as their schedules permit. Currently, they are performing approximately 15-20 concerts each year in churches, theaters, auditoriums, and many other types of venues. They are able to make their musical program work for just about any type of audience. Every opportunity to sing is considered a privilege and another chance to share the Gospel of Jesus through music. The Cleghorns are members of Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Whenever The Cleghorns sing, their first and foremost goal is to spread the Good News of the Gospel of Christ. They believe that the Savior came to earth, lived a sinless life, died a vicarious death, rose again on the third day, and ascended to His Father in heaven, where He is preparing a home for those that trust Him. As they sing, their main desire is to see more souls won to the Kingdom of God.

Their second purpose is to exalt the precious name of their Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. The Bible says that His name is exalted over every other name. The Cleghorns seek to exalt that name each time they sing.

Beyond evangelism for the Savior and exaltation of the Savior, The Cleghorns’ programs serve to encourage the body of Christ. If one person leaves the concert with a fresh and new outlook, then their work has not been in vain. Christians have all the reasons to be the happiest people in the world. Being a child of God should be fun, so there is an entertaining aspect to what The Cleghorns do. If you are not enjoying yourself, you will never hear the message. Providing wholesome entertainment through music that everyone can enjoy is part of The Cleghorns’ work.

Because The Cleghorns consider their singing to be a ministry, they sing for a love offering under most circumstances. God has repeatedly proven Himself faithful and they are trusting Him to meet their needs and bless their ministry.
